Hyde Park Nursery School
Our School Staff
The staff at the Hyde Park Nursery school, as well as Miss Chris and Miss Joan's Group Family Daycare, is highly trained and qualified to work with young children. The Director, Joan Kerrs, has a bachelors degrees in early childhood education, as well as over 30 years of experience in early childhood education.
Most of our staff have bachelors degree's and/or associated degree's in early childhood education or similar fields. We also have, on-staff, a New York Sate Certified special education teacher as well as a NY State Reading / Literacy teacher. All teachers assistants receive on-going training; 15 hours per year.
Our staff turnover is extremely low, resulting in the highest quality of consistent care.
JOAN KERRS (DIRECTOR)
Founded Hyde Park Nursery School in 1988. Miss Joan has a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and experience as a childhood educator for 32 years.
MELISSA VITTONE (HEAD TEACHER)
Head Pre-K Teacher. Miss Melissa has a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education. She is certified in regular and special education. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary College and has 20 years of experience.
CLAUDIA RICE (NURSERY SCHOOL TEACHER)
Miss Claudia has worked for Hyde Park Nursery School for over 20 years. She has extensive experience in early childhood education. She continues to expand her education through professional development classes.
CYNTHIA HELFRICH (TEACHERS ASST.)
Miss Cynthia attended Dutchess Community College and graduated from the Rhode Island School of Photography. She has worked at the Hyde Park Nursery School for 17 years.
CHRISTIANA KERRS (PRE-K TEACHER)
Miss Christiana (granddaughter of Miss Joan) is graduating from Mount Saint Mary College in May of 2021. She studied Elementary Regular and Special Education as well as early childhood education and is currently the President of Kappa Delta Pi, which is an esteemed International Honors Society for Education. She has worked at the Hyde Park Nursery School for the past 5 years.
