Group Family Daycare​


Miss Chris and Miss Joan's Group Family Daycare is an affiliate of Hyde Park Nursery school. It was established in 1999. Since its inception the daycare has cared for many children ages 6 weeks to 2 years and 9 months. An experienced and nurturing staff have cared for many of Hyde Park's children over the past years.

Daycare hours of operation:

Monday - Friday 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Different Schedules Available

Available Schedules for Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten  

The center provides educational opportunities for children from the ages of two years and nine months through kindergarten age. We offer various class sessions and schedules.

Option 1:

7:30 AM - 5:30 PM (2 or more days per week)

Option 2:

9:00 AM - 3:00 PM (2 or more days per week)

Option 3:

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (2 or more days per week)

Option 4:

1:00 PM - 4:00 PM (2 or more days per week)

​2 and 3 Year Old Preschool Class

Pre-Kindergarten Class


Our center offers a comprehensive Pre-K program. In addition to all of the above, this program also offers:

  • Reading readiness

  • Special field trips

  • Italian classes

  • Literature based story time

  • Simple Addition and Subtraction

  • Holiday Recital

  • Graduation Ceremony

Curriculum

 

All programs include:

  • Listening Skills

    • auditory discimination

    • following directions

    • learning rhymes

  • Visual Discrimination

    • identifying colors and shapes

    • comparing items for "same" and "different" concepts

  • Motor Skills

    • gross motor activities - jumping, skipping, hopping, dancing, follow the leader and more eye-hand motor coordination throwing and catching a ball

    • fine motor activities - arts and crafts, using scissors, pasting, stringing beads, painting, coloring and tracing skills

  • Social Skills

    • adult supervised free play (indoors and outdoors)

    • role playing, sharing, listening in a group

    • show & tell and snack time

  • Academic Skills

    • reading to the children to develop concepts and vocabulary

    • telling stories to develop sequence concepts 

    • counting, recoginizing numerals, understanding quantities, writing numbers (when appropriate) 

    • reciting and recognizing alphabet, writing alphabet (when appropriate)

  • Music

    • the study of rhyme and rhythm through song

    • singing to piano accompaniment

  • Science

    • the study of plants, animals, magnets, weather, and nature

  • Social Studies 

    • field trips into the community, discussion of historical figures, introduction to other countries and other cultures

  • Health

    • the study of personal hygiene, dental care, nutrition and safety

  • Field Trips 

    • apple and pumpkin picking, dentist's office, library, various theatrical performances and many others related to the curriculum

  • Recitals

    • Holiday and Spring Recital / Graduation
